A Note from the OSMA President
As the new OSMA president, let me first
simply say thank you and we are here for you.
This is an unprecedented time, not only for healthcare providers, but for everyone in our communities. I realize physicians in every corner of the state are struggling with the unknown. Those seeing COVID-19 patients and those still providing critical care are worried about the lack of adequate PPE, their patients’ health, their own health and the health of their colleagues and families. Others are worried about not being able to see and treat their patients, and how they can keep their business viable, and keep and pay their employees. Our profession has never experienced anything like this.
OSMA’s role right now—and as always—is to serve every physician and practice in the state. Our work matters now more than ever. Throughout the COVID-19 crisis, we are focused on three things:
Advocating for physicians as decisions are
being made at the state and federal level.
Informing physicians in a timely, concise and actionable
way regarding major clinical and business announcements.
Educating physicians and staff on how to navigate new protocols, delivery modes or business issues. Our webinar on telehealth—which more than 600 practices have viewed so far—is just one example of these educational resources.
While OSMA staff and leadership are working each day in these areas, we know you will continue to have questions and need us to advocate on things we can’t yet predict.
Therefore, I am urging you to reach out to me through email to help me guide our work in the days and weeks ahead as we manage the fallout from this pandemic. I will review each inquiry with our staff and we will respond to you with the most up-to-date information that is known. Your feedback will also help us keep a pulse on what is happening on the front lines of this epidemic and how we can effectively advocate for the needs of physicians throughout the state.
As always, you can visit our dedicated webpage OSMA.org/coronavirus for the latest information.
Stay strong, and thank you for everything you are doing to care for your patients, your families and yourselves. We will, as our motto says, bring (all) physicians together for a healthier Ohio.
– Anthony Armstrong, M.D.
