Take Action on Proposed Medicare Cuts

OSMA is joining the American Medical Association (AMA) and various physician specialty associations in advocating against proposed rate cuts as part of the proposed Medicare physician payment schedule.

In an effort to reduce administrative burden, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has proposed new policies for coding and payment for office visits. Unfortunately, in the name of budget neutrality, CMS is also proposing to cut payment rates for some physicians by almost 11%. The AMA has reached out to CMS with urgent concerns about the proposal, on behalf of physician practices that in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, have faced serious revenue reductions.

OSMA encourages physicians to reach out to their representatives in Congress about this issue, and the need to protect physicians and practices that are under economic strain so that they can continue to meet patient needs and provide quality care both during and after the pandemic.
